Radio CIA "adopts" US Army unit in Iraq
That's right, thanks to the efforts of the good folks at Any Soldier, we've decided to adopt a few troops.
The unit we've adopted is a ten-man squad in the Third Infantry Division. Based out of Ft. Benning, Georgia, they've only recently deployed to Iraq, and will be there until September 2008. Operational security requirements only allow me to tell you that they're based "in or around Baghdad". They're living in squad-sized tents, and eating mostly MREs. They have access to electricity and a microwave.
PFC Eric Salazar, our contact in the squad, tells us that they need personal hygiene items, baby wipes, snack foods, magazines and other entertainment items, and will be grateful for anything they can receive.
Today, we shipped what we hope will be the first of many care packages to these young men. Take a look:
